picture-young-joo-at-sydney-harbourYoung-Joo is Korean and has been in Australia for 31 years. Young-Joo works for the NSW Government and she is also very active in the Deaf community.

She thinks some of the challenges that she and other Deaf people face include:catching public transport and not being able to hear emergency announcements in public, train stations, airports or bus terminals not understanding workplace discussions missing out on being trained fully in the workplace not having  accurate and reliable closed captions on television, and no professional Auslan interpreters in public places like police stations, train stations, shops, restaurants.

If she could get individualised funding she would use it to do more volunteering, become an Auslan teacher, a musical dancer, teach choirs song or dance in Auslan, and become a fashion designer.
